NAATSIHWP hosts annual regional forums that assist with our members' profesional development, in every state and territory. These day long forums offer an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers, Health Practitioners and other interested health sector staff to come together to discuss regional priorities, develop new skills and network with key health stakeholders.
Our agenda usually covers:
Update from NAATSIHWP - We present current and ongoing projects of NAATSIHWP to keep our members up to date with how we progress nationally in terms of promoting the workforce
Scope of Practice - We run a small conversational workshop that helps our members work out the best way to use this valuable resource in their workplace for their own benefit and of their employer
Members Portal - Find out how to use this valuable tool so you can keep track of your personal training and utilise the many resources available to you.
Cultural Considerations - We open up the conversation around cultural safety and how it affects us all in the workplace. We talk about how to identify unsafe workplaces and what we can do about it.
Self-Care Promotion - Generally, people who work in health are amazing at looking after everyone else but not so good at taking care of their own well-being. We talk about ways we can incorporate self-care into our very busy lives.
The forum sessions build the capacity and skills of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners to deliver health care, helping to close the gaps in health disparities in their communities. Please look at our calendar of events and register your interest in attending a session. These forums count as Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours for health professionals.
